Why Bother Sharing This Experience?
We have a friend who, perhaps not coincidentally, had a bad experience with Lindholm Roofing. When we shared our unpleasant stories about Lindholm Roofing and Mike Huston and Tim Lindholm and the whole “family owned” mystique, our friend wanted to “stick it” to Lindholm Roofing. That is not what we are about. This is a business issue. We've experienced a loss and we seek compensation. We've experienced bad service and we want our neighbors to know.

The Internet increases transparency. Our constitutional right to free speech if we speak the truth is our passport. Our neighbors and community should be able to know of and share our experience. Photo: Family owned Lindholm Roofing President Tim Lindholm never returned a phone call.

Our experience with Lindholm Roofing has gone beyond the pale. We’ve actually felt threatened for loss and damage in our own home. Our efforts to get reasonable satisfaction from Lindholm Roofing have been met with indifference and aggression. Lindholm Roofing has stated its intent to sue us. Yet all we want is to be compensated for our damage and to have them honor their guarantee.

We do not believe that we are alone with our experience. If you have had a bad experience – or good experience – with this firm, you may want to share it with us . However, our premise is that our collective experiences are not uncommon and may represent a business behavior that is not in the interest of the consumer. So we are focused on giving light to these experiences.

Our goal is to alert Chicago area consumers of residential roofing services to some of the mishaps in engaging Chicago roofing contractor Lindholm Roofing or any other roofing or household service. Be alert to our experience and do a better job. Good luck.

October 2008 update:
Lindholm Roofing has threatened us with a lawsuit in an effort to force us to remove this website. Rather than provide me the refund I requested, they hired an attorney to send me a letter saying this site contains false and defamatory information. I asked them what information was false and what information might be defamatory? Through their attorney, Lindholm Roofing responded that they don't have to answer my questions. In fact, Lindholm Roofing is simply attempting to intimidate me. Their claim has no merit. The information contained here, albeit critical, is true and accurate.

If you are considering using Lindholm Roofing for a roofing job, ask yourself this question: Do you want to do business with a company who will ignore you if you have problems and sue you if you have a legitimate complaint?  Make your own decision about doing business with Lindholm Roofing.

This is a company that has compromised my home's integrity. And now they want to sue me. Frankly, it is frightening. All I wanted was a new roof.

December 2008 update:
While Lindholm Roofing is assembling an army of lawyers to squish an ant of a homeowner, we have made a complaint through the Chicago Better Business Bureau to received a refund under the Lindholm Guarantee and be compensated for the cost of repairing our damages. After a series of moderated but unproductive communications between Lindholm Roofing and us, we have indicated a desire to proceed with binding arbitration. Lindholm Roofing must similarly agree.

We wait for the lawsuit. We wait for the Chicago BBB to respond. We wait for Lindholm Roofing to step up and honor their guarantee and refund our money and pay us for damages. And we wait for the Cubs to win the penant.
